Chapter 3
It was cold, freezing to him, but Nai didn’t really care; the pain in his head and face motivated him to move forward, to look for Marko.
The watcher stopped suddenly, closing his eyes and listening that voice inside of himself that told him where to go, where to find him…
Pete was twisting Marko’s arm painfully behind his back, taking hold of both of his wrist in tight grip while his other hand sneaked down to open his pants. The sickening click of his belt, zipper opening,
“You’ll get it soon babe, don’t you worry…” He whispered licking behind the shell of his ear. Marko tried to scream, only to have his head slammed against the hood and the next thing he knew Pete was lowering his pants down even more.
Wave of pain slammed against his face yet again almost making Nai collapse, he shook his head knowing he had to hurry. Despite the pain he quickened his steps next street and another before he saw the car and what was going on. Blood boiled in his veins as he headed towards the scene, moving silently, gracefully, almost in cat like manner.
The man who was keeping a guard for his friend narrowed his eyes at the approaching figure, he quickly moved towards him before he would be able to get to the scene.
“Pojalla on nyt väärä suunta,” he snarled at the youth blocking his way. “Käänny kiltisti ympäri ja jatka matkaasi muualle.”
“Don’t understand…” Watcher hissed not even looking at the man, his eyes fixed on Marko, but still his fist was perfectly aimed at the man’s face, who shrieked in pain. Nai felt the sticky wetness on his digits and knew that the blow had broken the man’s nose.
Pete heard his friends shriek and turned his face to see what was going on, he narrowed his eyes annoyed of the sudden interruption; he had just been about to drag Marko inside the car to finish what he wanted. Holding the boy tightly under his grip and looking at the one approaching he hoped he would have thought to bring his gun.
“Mene tiehesi! Tänne ei kaivata sivullisia!” He hissed.
“Already mentioned, don’t understand…” The youth snarled, “Let him go! Now! He’s mine….” His blue eyes glowed in the dark evening with fury and need to kill.
The man laughed looking at him carefully.
“So you’re his new one…” He asked with amusement, “well you’ll have to wait boy, I have some unfinished business with Marko here…”
Wicked and wide grin spread on Nai’s face,
“I’m not a patient person…”He said for a moment locking his eyes into those beautiful, yet at the moment fearful green orbs of Marko, before Nai attacked the man; forcing him to release the boy.
Marko fell on the ground and heard his ex scream in furry, the snow felt cold under his hands, droplets of red appeared on the pure white and feeling the wetness under his nose, he realised he was bleeding, taste of blood filled his mouth and clumsily he pulled his jeans up fastening them, feeling dizzy and slightly disoriented. He brought his trembling hand under his nose and turned his face to see Pete trying to fight Nai off.
With wicked grin still on his features Nai pinned Pete against the wall, his shoe squeezing the man’s neck,
“Mine…. Remember you sick fuck, Marco is mine…”
Pete stared at the youth in fury, how was the kid able to win him over like this? Someone so skinny and fragile looking? He narrowed his eyes, but said nothing; the truth was that he was scared.
“N-nai… let’s go…please…” Marko who had rose up to his feet’s pleaded, he was cold and slightly nauseous and just wanted to get back home fast, away from Pete.
Hearing the boy’s voice made Nai back off instantly, keeping his eyes on Pete to make sure the man wouldn’t try anything stupid he walked over to Marko, picking some snow on the ground and then handing it to the other teen’s hand.
“Here, hold it against your nose, lets go…” He whispered, wrapping his arm around him.
Pete watched them still standing close to the wall and when Marko glanced at him warily with fearful eyes, he smirked; it wasn’t over yet, no way, he vowed to himself.
Slowly Nai led Marko back to his grandmothers house, his arm around the boy’s waist to support him.
“You have any aspirin?” He asked as they walked, “and how’s your nose?”
Marko’s hands were still trembling the snow in his hands had already melted but he was afraid to lift his hand from his face, he glanced at Nai,
“I-I’m not sure…” He whispered still affected by shock of what had almost happened. Nai smiled gently at him.
“Okay, don’t worry, we’ll fix that…” He said brushing Marko’s hair, still supporting him, “Err…witch way now?” He stopped looking around, he had made it to Marko by following his instincts but going back was little bit of a problem.
Marko looked around for the first time since they had left the horrid scene and finally he pointed forward, “there,” he whispered and felt glad that it wasn’t a long walk anymore. Then he looked at Nai again, frowning slightly, “H-how?” He asked puzzled; how had the other found him so fast? How had he known where to look?
Nai licked his lips, blushing slightly despite the cold,
“some other time, okay? Now let’s get you back home.” He suggested leading them towards the direction that Marko had shown him.
Entering the warm apartment Marko felt as though he had just walked there in haze, confused of what had happened and shocked most of all. The door close behind him, probably Nai… For the first time he looked down at his clothes; Few buttons from his dark grey wool jacket were missing and his still shaky hands reached to open the rest his mind still trying to understand; he was almost raped…
“Let me help you…” Watcher suggested, slowly reaching to the boy’s trembling hands, holding for a moment to share the warmth before gently undressing the jacket from him, “it’s all right now, you’re safe.” He whispered brushing the boy’s cheek with the back of his hand before hanging the jacket on the hanger.
Marko studied the man, his face and eyes; his delicate features, who was he? How…?
“Thank you….” He whispered. Noticing the curious eyes on him Nai smiled,
“How’s your nose?” He asked, gently lifting Marko’s face up, “Still bleeding?”
He felt like in odd dream, Marko brought his hand to touch under his nose almost having forgotten, some blood had dried on his skin and it made him think how horrible he must have looked, “not at the moment,” he whispered while still covering his nose with his hand, it embarrassed him now, thinking of the state in which Nai, his strange guest, had seen him in, so vulnerable and… “I- I think…. I think I like some tea…. W-would you like?”
Nai nodded,
“Yeah, want me to make? Why don’t you sit down?” He looked at the boy’s dirty slightly torn clothes, “or change while I make tea?”
“Yeah,” Marko blushed slightly, nodding while still touching his face in insecure manner, “I need to shower…”
Again Nai nodded thinking it was a good idea, maybe the boy would feel better after it?
"Yes, take a shower. want only tea or something to eat after?"
“I… I don’t think I could eat… just tea, thank you…” He tried to smile but it faded soon, “I go and… shower…” He nodded and headed towards the bathroom.
Bitting his lip Nai kicked his shoes off before heading into the kitchen. He browsed through the cupboard for tea and some painkillers while waiting for the water to boil.
In the bathroom Marko slowly undressed and threw his clothes into the laundry basket. He turned the water on, checking the temperature with his hand before stepping under. The warm water around him felt shooting and yet he tried to struggle against crying; he had felt so helpless… so weak… if Nai hadn’t come… Thank God he had…But how?… was it important? Important was that he had…. He scrubbed his skin hard, washed until he felt even somewhat close to being clean. His head was aching, his eyes were burning, he didn’t want to think… just shut it out but… it was easier said than done… He took his towel and dried himself carefully before putting on his fluffy, white bathrobe.
It took long, Nai had suspected it would, but still he felt nervous and leaned against the wall of the hall waiting for Marko to leave the bathroom, worried. Finally the door opened and the boy gave him a slightly surprised look,
“Hi,” he whispered, “d-did you wait long?”
“Not really…but tea should be good to drink already,” Nai smiled looking carefully at Marko. “How are you feeling?”
The boy wrapped his arms around himself.
“Little odd…” He admitted, “But… I’ll survive,” He added with a careful smile.
“I found some painkillers, come on, lets go to the kitchen, okay?”
Marko nodded and followed him, sitting down in front of the kitchen table,
“Does it… look bad?” He asked carefully, gesturing towards his face, scared of the answer.
Nai tilted his head, slightly amused he had been hurt more in his time,
“It will heal in no time, Marco,” he assured and leaned to brush his lips against the bruise.
Marko blushed slightly, gave him a careful, slightly embarrassed smile.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“You’re welcome,” Nai answered putting the tray with the tea and painkiller in front of the boy.
Marko picked the cup between his hands and sipped carefully,
“warm, good,” he glanced at Nai and smiled, then back at the tea cup in his hand, “I wonder…. People always make tea when feeling down, don’t they?” He tilted his head still looking at his cup, “you see a movie, something bad happens and they make tea… and… then now it’s almost like I automatically think that tea can somehow make me feel better.” He sighed.
“And does it?” Nai asked, sipping his own drink slowly.
Marko shrugged,
“No and yes… I don’t know… it makes me feel warm… so in a way, I suppose it makes me feel slightly more safe…Grandma always made tea…”
Watcher looked at him carefully,
“You should take some rest, try to sleep.” He suggested, feeling it was too early to ask who the man had been.
Marko nodded and reached for the painkiller washing it down from his throat with the help of the tea.
“Yes, I should try,” he whispered with a nod and again looked up at his guest, “you need rest too…”
“I’ll be fine,” Nai assured and with serene smile he started gathering the dishes, “just go and get some rest, I’ll clean up here, okay?”
“Okay,” Marko gave him a faint smile getting up slowly and watching him for awhile; it felt strange seeing someone else cleaning the kitchen, strange and nice at the same time; he wouldn’t have wanted to be alone in the apartment after what almost happened. “Good night, Nai,” he added with a whisper before heading to the bedroom. He undressed the bathrobe, dressing on a clean pair of boxers and T-shirt, before curling on the bed under the warm covers, for awhile he listened to the sounds coming from the kitchen, it calmed him down and finally he was able to close his eyes and fall asleep
Nai finished cleaning the kitchen and then went to wash up in the bathroom before joining Marko in the bedroom. The boy was a sleep, his hands resting close to his bruised face, breathing evenly. Carefully Nai approached the bed and sat down next to him just watching him for awhile already reaching out to touch his hair but in the last moment he stopped himself from doing so, not wanting to scare the boy who might be sensitive to any kind of touch now.
Finally he lied down on the bed next to him, close his eyes but not really finding rest. An hour, maybe two and Marko’s sleep turned restless; the boy whimpered, tossing and turning, cold sweat breaking on his skin, making Nai sat up on the bed hand reaching to caress his forehead,
“Marko… wake up… you’re dreaming…wake up… just a bad dream..” he called, his hand going to his hair watching as the emerald eyes opened in fright before recognising calmed the fear.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you?” He asked softly looking up into the blue eyes.
Nai shook his head, smiled gently,
“it’s okay, I’m used to it,” he assured and kept stroking Marko’s soft hair, “it’s okay now.”
Marko sighed, his breathing calming down; the touch felt warm, gentle, smoothing, making him feel warm again, warm in a safe way, he close his eyes.
“Thank you…” He whispered feeling like he could never thank his strange guest enough for what he had done for him.
“Next time you go out, don’t go alone, but with me, okay?” Nai whispered sneaking under the cover deciding it was okay now that Marko was aware of him.
Smiling the boy opened his eyes and looked at him,
“okay,” he promised and it felt an easy promise to make since he wasn’t keen on going out alone anyway now, “I’m glad you’re here…” He added, reaching for his hand.
Nai turned on his side not to put any weight on his bruised chest.
“I’m glad I made it,” he whispered closing his hand around Marko’s while his other reached to touch his face, “you’ll be fine soon, you’ll see…”
“I will…” Marko agreed with a small nod, his eyelids slowly falling shut, “I’m like a cat and I still have life’s to spare…” he muttered with sleepy voice added with a grin.
**^^**^^*^^**
And the days passed, his bruises healed nicely, faster than Marko had expected and Nai had taken good care of him. He really liked having the other man around, liked the feeling of being taken cared for; gentle touches, someone who listened and was there, someone who talked to him, with him… It was so different then with others, Nai definitely was different than others, an enigma really. The only thing that confused him was the state of their new found relationship; was it friendship? Was it something that would develop to something more?
Nai who laid on the couch next to Marko, chewing on sliced up pears, tilted his head and looked at the other,
“You look good today,” he started, reaching out to touch Marko’s face where bruises were not so long ago. Marko smiled, Nai’s compliments always felt good to hear; it made him feel… special.
“Thank you,” He whispered looking at him carefully, “so do you,” he grinned watching as the pieces of fruit disappeared into his mouth leaving a sweet glimmer on his lips that caused him a strange yearn to lean forward to lick the taste from them.
Nai licked his fingers before reaching for another piece of fruit but instead of eating it he brought it to Marko’s lips,
“Try,” he purred.
Marko gave him a curious look, before finally parting his lips to take the sweet juicy fruit into his mouth, his lips brushed slightly against Nai’s fingers making him blush and look away, chewing slowly, “It’s good,” he nodded, licking his lips.
Nai brought his fingers back to his lips and sucked on each digit, looking in Marko’s eyes all this time. It had been almost two weeks since he met him and beside that one outburst nothing had happened because of the bad incident Marko had had. He didn’t want to push, to harm the boy in any way but having him around, sleeping with him in one bed was making things more and more difficult with each passing day.
Marko’s gaze drifted to Nai’s fingers and his lips he couldn’t help but to look, wondering why it looked so …. Purely erotic…He sighed out loud without realising then blushed and forced himself to look back towards the tv screen where a movie was still playing, movie that he had almost forgotten that they were watching.
Nai giggled when Marko blushed,
“You know you look cute! Just like a teenager,” he took note, moving slightly closer, breathing in Marko’s scent. Marko, if possible, blushed even more, before smiling.
“I am a teenager…” He pointed out, very aware of the closer distance between them, his senses were high, his heart was beating faster and he looked up in his eyes, “um…” He wondered why he was feeling so… funny?… He wasn’t a virgin, lord knew he wasn’t! But perhaps the situation… It was different after all spending nights and days with someone not having sex… and now… Now he felt the tension in the air between them, heavy, thick and growing, or could he be just imagining it?
“Oh my…” Nai grinned, “are you legal at least? Or will I end up in jail for seducing you?” He grinned at the boy, looking into those beautiful eyes, his own beaming.
“I’m 18… turning 19 at Spring…” Marko answered tilting his head and grinning, “You plan to seduce me?” He blurted out.
“You plan to allow me?” Nai answered with a new question, unconsciously his hand rested on the boy’s thigh, his fingertips tracing lazy patterns.
It was such a simple touch and yet… it filled him with desire for more,
“Hm… yeah…” He whispered while his hand carefully reached out to touch Nai’s hair.
Nai close his eyes, fully enjoying Marko’s touch, he leaned slightly closer to whisper in the boy’s ear, “so tempting…” he purred before gently nibbling at the soft earlobe.
Marko could feel the warmth spread on his cheeks, it was almost tingling sensation that filled his stomach, so strange, almost unfamiliar feeling because it had been so long since the last time he had felt anything like it, his fingers traced the back of Nai’s neck, tangling in the soft hair, moaning softly as the others lips contacted with his ear that had always been sensitive.
Nai was still grinning when he kissed his way from the boy’s ear to his cheekbone and down his chin deliberately avoiding his lips, then moving to other cheek and other ear slowly moving to straddle Marko’s lap.
Marko’s breathing hardened, his hands moved along the man’s sides to rest on his lower back, desperately moving his head to seek his lips to finally get the kiss he longed for. Nai smiled at the boy’s actions, finally moving his head and allowing their lips to meet, his arms moved behind Marko’s neck, it felt so good to kiss him again, the boy tasted of pears they ate not so long ago, so sweet, so delicious that it made him moan.
He felt himself tremble from desire, his hands moving along the others body; feeling, getting familiar. Still kissing and devouring Marko’s lips, Nai got up tugging the boy’s clothes urging him to follow, “bedroom…” He whispered returning his lips to his for more.
Marko could only nod, eager, kissing him almost hungrily now as they blindly made their way towards the bedroom.
On their way Nai almost ripped Marko’s shirt off since he couldn’t handle buttons because of his wounded hand, “Beautiful,” he whispered before bringing his lips on his neck, sucking on the soft skin wanting to mark him as his.
Marko at that point didn’t really care that one of his favourite shirts was now torn , he wanted Nai, that was the only thought in his mind; he needed, lusted, ached to feel him and so his own hands reached to undress the man’s shirt, revealing his chest where the bruises were not so evident as they had been before.
Somehow they made their way to the bedroom, but instead of heading to the bed, Nai pushed Marko against the wall next to the door, pinning his lean body with his own. Nai looked into the boy’s eyes, caressing his face then, his hand slid lower, to Marko’s throat, tracing each artery, feeling his rabid pulse.
Marko licked his lips, focusing his gaze upon Nai’s face, while his hand moved up on his sides, gently to his naked back under the now open shirt.
Nai’s eyes fixed on the beautiful cross on the boy’s neck, caressing the chain, closer until reaching the gold that his eyes had admired, but as soon as he touched his, his face turned pale, “No…” the watcher shrieked, gripping the cross, backing off, faintly hearing the snap of the chain.
The snap left a soft burning sensation in the back of Marko’s neck and confused his hand reached out to touch the now naked spot if where his cross had rested; now fixed tightly inside Nai’s fist.
“What’s wrong?”
Objects could carry memories, if emotion inflicting them were strong enough… still holding the cross Nai gripped his head panting, his legs gave up from under him and he slid to the floor almost choking; suffocating by the emotion so old and strong.
It was frightening to watch because Marko had no idea what was going on, was Nai having some kind of seizure? Was it serious? What should he do?
“Nai? What’s wrong?” He asked now worried for real, coming closer, pondering if he should call an ambulance while following sudden instinct; he knelled down and reached to take the cross from the man’s hand, holding it and watching the other worriedly.
When Marko took the cross, everything left, leaving him drained, exhausted. His mind simply shut down and he collapsed onto the floor unconscious.
Marko placed the cross quickly down to a near by table and knelt back down before him, trying to wake the man, when he didn’t respond he checked his breathing and pulse relaxing slightly when finding they were okay; normal. But Nai didn’t wake and he was worried. Taking a deep breath he finally gathered his strength and lifted Nai, slowly dragging him to the bed and laying him down there, gently covering him with blankets and touching his forehead; what on earth just happened? He wondered to himself.
It took rather long for the watcher to reach consciousness, when he opened his eyes it was already dark outside, his mind felt numb and fuzzy after what had happened but still he didn’t want to think of the memories he had seen. Slowly, like weighting tons, he shifted on the bed, looking around and seeing Marko who sat next to him on the bed smiling softly.
“Hi, how are you feeling?” He inquired carefully. Nai frowned, his hands reaching to touch his forehead.
“Head hurts… How long was I out?”
Marko chewed on his lip for a moment, glancing at the time,
“Quite long, it’s 6pm now,” he answered, “I can bring you some painkillers?”
Nai licked his lips,
“Yes… and water… I’m thirsty,” He whispered, it had been 1pm… 5 hours had passed, he wondered to himself.
Nodding Marko stood up and left the room, he walked into the kitchen to get the glass of water and medicine, then returned to the bedroom, “here,” he handed the glass and the pill to him, watching him carefully.
Nai sat up slowly, popped the pill in his mouth and drank the glass empty, he looked around the room, then at Marko, “I… your cross, I broke the chain, didn’t I?”
Marko sat back down sighing, “Um, yeah… it’s on the table,” he said, tilting his head and watching the man, “Um… what happened Nai?”
Nai looked down at his hands,
“Should fix it… Where can we fix it? Is there jeweller near?” He tried to avoid the explanation right then, didn’t want to start it there, where after hearing Marko would want him to leave. Nai expected that reaction.
Marko nodded, sensing Nai’s hesitation.
“Yeah, there is, not too far… and don’t worry about it Nai,” he whispered, “Are you hungry?”
Food was the last thing on Nai’s mind then,
“We need to fix it, we can eat in some restaurant…” He decided and got up carefully, “We talk then.”
“Hm…okay…” Marko got up as well, walked over to the table, took the cross and put it in his pocket.
Nai got dressed glancing at Marko, “can we take taxi?” He was still slightly dizzy, even sleepy, didn’t feel like walking at all. “Is it far?”
“Yes, we can… I’ll make the call…” Marko nodded reaching for his cell phone, searching the number which he had at one time saved to his phone. “It should be here in about five minutes,” He said after finishing the call and gave Nai a faint smile before walking to the hall to dress his outdoor clothes.
Nai followed him, put his boots and his coat on, glancing at the boy, who stood at the door; opening it for him, he gave the apartment one last look, feeling like he would be seeing it for the last time.
They walked outside silently, Marko wasn’t sure what to say and Nai seemed serious and … lost in his thoughts, and he simply felt weird about the whole thing, not knowing what to think. It was snowing again, the sky was dark purple, trees around heavy with snow, streetlights making the pure white glimmer in the darkness.
The car was already waiting, Marko walked closer, opened the door and held it for Nai, waiting him to go in first.
Nai got in looking through the window, he was always amazed by the sky there, so different… “it’s beautiful, the sky…” He whispered looking at Marko for brief moment, then back outside.
“It is…” Marko answered carefully looking at the other, “where do you come from?” He asked and to this Nai chuckled.
“We spent such a long time together and you haven’t asked…” He rose his brow amused,
“I did ask,” Marko reminded grinning slightly, “and I believe your answer was; far, far away and then you wondered why people even ask such a thing, so… well I have been wondering, I didn’t get my reply then.”
Nai shook his head smiling at him,
“Itally, I was born there, we don’t really have snow there. But I don’t live there, haven’t for many years. I live in Japan, Tokyo, snow there looks like ash.”
Japan… Marko was curious… He had always wanted to see Japan. He wanted to ask more, he wanted to…
They arrived in front of the shopping mall, and this time after paying Nai got up and held the door open for Marko.
Marko watched him with curiosity, wondering what it was that had happened in the bedroom earlier and… would they ever get to actually having sex?
Nai looked around at the people walking in and out of the building,
“Jeweller, lead please, I don’t know this place,” he started, giving the boy a somewhat nervous smile.
“Sure,” Marko answered to his smile and started walking towards where he knew that the small jewel shop was, glancing at Nai to see that he was following.
Once in the shop he walked to the counter, glad that at the moment they were the only two customers there, he took the broken necklace from his jeans pocket and hesitantly handed it over to the jeweller.
“Can you fix this?” He asked as the man took a closer look of the chain and the cross.
“This is old, beautifully made…” He admired,
“Can you fix it, sir?” Nai asked and bit his lip, hoping the man understood him, “you speak English, don’t you?”
The man looked up and smiled,
“Yes I can fix it, it’s quite easy and you’re lucky because it’s slow today you can have it back before closing.”
“Thank you,” Nai sighed with relief and handed his credit card to pay him.
When the left they shop Nai checked the time,
“Marko, you hungry?” He asked turning to the youth, “you didn’t eat, did you? We can talk while eating.”
“Okay, there’s some restaurants over there,” Marko pointed ahead, “what are you in mood for?”
Nai looked and smiled bitterly, irony; Italian restaurant…
“Memories… pizza then, with sea fruits…”
Marko glanced at him and smiled before leading him towards the small Italian restaurant. Finding a secluded table, they sat down and Marko quickly browsed through the menu before the waiter came to take their orders. They both choose pizza and come coke and when the waiter was gone, Nai took a deep breath.
"I'm... what happened to day..." he started nervously reaching for some tissue "you see, some object gather memories... people say; house full of memories, right? It's true, old house have memory. the same with object, old objects and even new can gather memories, but they have to be strong, very strong... unfortunately only those tragic are strong enough to leave the brand... do you understand ‘till now?"
“And the necklace…?” Marko started quietly, frowning, “um…go on,” he nodded then.
Nai folded the paper and reached for another tissue; it calmed him,
"I'm... still young and it's not my speciality. usually I can protect myself, my mind, have good shield but when I was with you, I was eer... in aroused stated like I was distracted, so my mind was open. when I touched your necklace I... kinda relieved those gathered memories, not fully. I'm empathic, only emotions... but they were enough to knock me out..." Nai fell silent for some time staring at the surface of the table.
Marko tilted his head watching Nai carefully, playing with the sleeve of his shirt, chewing on his lip, confused.
“What did you see?” He asked trying to sound casual, unsure what to think now, unsure if he believed what he was hearing.
Nai’s face instantly distorted like in pain, ”I didn’t see, I just felt… Don’t know which is worst… the owner, person who wore the cross… emotions, scared for himself and for someone else, worried…hurt… disgust…” Nai frowned trying to remember again, long pained moan escaped from his lips and he brought his hand to rub his temple, “it belonged to that boy from the picture, Elias…right?… God….”
Marko frowned again, this was… strange.
“Elias, yes… he… died…”
Nai took few deep breaths to try and clear his mind, “Do you believe me now? Those emotions…This boy was raped, right?” Nai didn’t dare to look at Marko.
Marko went slightly pale; how was this possible? Had he told him? No, he was sure he hadn’t, it wasn’t something one would just openly drop into the conversation…
“Y-yes…h-how…?”
Nai sighed and reached for the glass of coke that the waiter had just brought them, “I just told you, your necklace, previously it belonged to Elias. He had to had it on while… it happened. Memory of this left it’s mark on the cross and when I touched it, I felt it all…”
Marko’s mouth felt dry, he took a sip of his drink, looking at the other with still surprised wonder.
He remembered the evening his grandmother had told him, few years ago, she had been slightly drunk with brandy, her husband had died recently and they had been sitting in the living room, just the two of them. Before Marko had known that his big uncle had disappeared during the war, but not the horrid details.
“I’m loss with words,” he finally whispered, just before the waiter brought them their dinner.
Nai reached for another tissue,
“We’re using only few percent of our brain… abilities, but some use more… like me.” Nai took a deep breath, “it’s just science, no magic but advance…”
“Oh…” Marko nodded, wanting to understand and still it felt difficult, he started to cut his pizza into smaller pieces, frowning to himself, “he gave the necklace to my grandmother …after… she saw it… she saw what they did…soldiers, there were three enemy soldiers…”He spoke quietly still cutting his food. “God…” He sighed and carefully glanced at Nai, “this is so strange…no one has ever…”
“Many people end up in a nut house when first… symptoms show up… you don’t want to admit you see things other don’t, people consider you’re crazy and put you on drugs.” Nai pointed out bitterly.
Marko was silent for some time, just observing him, “I may not know all there is… it sounds odd, strange…but I don’t think you’re crazy.”
Nai glanced at him, chewed on his lip for long time, not knowing how to continue, how to tell the rest; who he really was.
“I’m…that wound…” he pointed at his pierced palm, “there’s a group of people, gathering those with special abilities like mine… called themselves watchers. I’m one of them.”
Marko looked down at Nai’s wounded hand, then back at his face, wanting to understand.
“And…what does a watcher too?”
Nai played with his glass, “Making sure human’s soul is safe…” He answered looking in Marko’s eyes; he had grown to like those eyes so much…
Nodding, yet not understanding really, Marko took a sip of his drink. Many others would perhaps automatically thought that the man was indeed crazy, but somehow he didn’t.
“Um…how?” He asked, feeling slightly silly.
“Any technique allowed,” Nai coughed looking away, “I was only 16, laying in hospital and got to know my family was killed… One of them came to me with an god father like offer. I had an option, police, constant interview and possible hunt from those who killed my family and ending up in orphanage, or them… I chose them.”
“I’m not quite sure I understand…” Marko confessed, “I mean… you hunt people? Bad people? Or…spirits?” He bit his lip.
Nai started chopping his pizza, much like Marko had done earlier,
“both,” he whimpered, not able to look at Marko, ashamed for the first time.
“Oh,” again Marko nodded, not really knowing what he should say, “um…” he picked the first small slice of pizza in his hand, “this… I mean… that’s how you found me?” He asked carefully, referring to the night with Pete.
Nai nodded, “yeah, that’s how I found you… look Marco… some might not consider me… nice person,” Again he bit his lip looking at the boy, “good person, so I would understand if you… don’t want me to stay close to you anymore, I won’t feel angry or nothing, so don’t worry, I’m use to it…” He smiled nervously, “I’ll give you time to think, okay? To make up your mind,” Nai got up slowly still looking at Marko, “take your time, okay?”
Marko looked up at him, “where are you going?” He asked, reaching for Nai’s hand, “I’m…it’s confusing, but I don’t want you to leave,”
Nai looked at the boy’s hand where he hold him, “just men’s room…” he smiled, “I’ll be back, but you should think if you want to be here when I’ll be back, Marco…”
Marko gave a small nod, “I’ll wait,” he whispered quietly, reaching for his glass.
Nai stood in front of the window and looked at his own reflection for a long time, those few days were in odd way the happiest in many years… no calls, no jobs… just simple conversations with Marko gave him more than anything… like with Gabriel… he didn’t want to lose it! Not again!
Marko sighed when alone, carefully tasting his food for the first time, thinking of everything Nai had told him; strange… He wasn’t the first strange people in his life, hell half of the guys he had dated and been with were strange in some way or another, but at least Nai was gentle with him, had taken care of him when he had needed and well… he wasn’t all that normal either, his family wasn’t, he had fucked up family history and… He bit his lip thinking… Nai was strange, he had known it from the start, he liked Nai, he didn’t want to be alone again, didn’t want to see him go.
He felt tired and he waited, waited for Nai to get back so they could get his big uncles necklace and go back home to sleep.
Nervously Nai checked the time; should be enough, he doubted that Marko would have stayed after what he heard even he had said he would… surely after everything had properly sunk in… He deeply hoped to see the boy again, but mostly people freaked out; he was hunting people after all, killing… Slowly Nai left the room and froze when he spotted Marko; still there, still waiting. Like mesmerised, the watcher approached the table and took his seat,
“I… you are here.”
“Of course,” Marko smiled, “want to go back home? We can take our food with us?”
“Yeah, we can,” Nai smiled nodding, “your necklace…” He reminded, waving at the waiter, beaming all this time.
When the waiter approached, they asked for their check and to have their food with them. It didn’t take long, Marko thanked the man and got up, then looked at Nai, smiling gently,
“Let’s go then,”
Nai took the bag with their pizza in his good hand and sneaked his wounded behind Marko’s back,
“You’re different… thank you,” he whispered not caring that Marko might not understand.
Marko glanced at him and grinned,
“I guess we both are,” he whispered.
Nai was in radically different mood, when they entered the store,
“So, necklace!” He pointed his finger at the man grinning. The man behind the counter rose his brow, slightly tired and annoyed, but forced a smile.
“Here it is sir,” He answered, showing the necklace to them, “as good as new,”
Marko reached to take it from the man’s hand carefully examining it,
“Thank you,” he smiled brightly when seeing no faults in the chain. Nai took a look as well but made sure not to touch it.
“Good, thank you…” The man had really done a good job with it, “sorry again,” Nai whispered looking at Marko.
“I told you; don’t worry about it…” Marko smiled, “let’s go find ourselves a taxi,” he said walking out of the shop.
When they were out, Nai suddenly stopped, “Marko, kiss me, right here and now,” wide grin spread on his face.
Having tucked the necklace safely in his pocket he gave a curious look to the other, smiling to him,
“Now? Alright,” He giggled slightly and then leaned closer to brush his lips against him, kissing him gently.
It felt good, that gentle kiss, Nai relaxed, his eyes half open to watch the people around them; priceless.
Marko smiled in almost shy manner when finally pulling back,
“that was nice,” he whispered.
“Nice indeed,” Nai grinned and stayed close to him, just staring at his eyes for awhile before tugging Marko’s hand, taking him towards the entrance. To their luck there was no line in the taxi station and they easily got a ride.
"I like evenings here, sky is so beautiful. never saw something like that. in Rome, usually it's so dirty from smog, same with Tokyo..."
"I've always wanted to travel," Marko sighed, "but ... yes, It's a beautiful evening." He nodded, looking out of the window before giving the driver the address.
"I wanted to travel long ago, when I was a kid... now I wish I could stay in one place, home..." Nai whispered playing with the bags, he somehow missed home he had, missed his bother a lot
Marko looked at him, sensing his sadness, “Maybe…hm…” He started hesitating, “I always thought that home is where one feels loved, I haven’t had many places like that, but….” He bit his lip unsure what it was that he wanted to say.
“Loved… I guess that too.” Nai looked at Marko as they arrived in front of the apartment building. He paid the driver before getting out.
Marko got up after him,
“With my grandparents I always felt like home… here and in their country house… well, Grandmas childhood home, where…” He bit his lip, not wanting to start and talk about it again. “Hm… you miss your family?”
Nai looked at his wrist, standing before the door, opening it for Marko and letting him in first. “I miss my brother the most. Mom and dad as well, but they were busy earning money so we took care of each other, my brother and I…”
“I’m sorry you lost him,” Marko said, slowly walking up the stairs, “if you want to talk about him, I could make us some tea?”
Nai looked at the bag with food, “we still have pizza… yeah make that tea…” He nodded, waiting Marko to open the apartment door.
They entered the flat, Marko kicked his shoes off and left his jacket in the hanger, “I can take the pizza, reheat it in the oven, you can wait in the living room,” he smiled reaching for the bag, Nai nodded, undressing and watched how Marko headed towards the kitchen.
In the living room Nai walked to the picture with Elias and his family, he looked at it carefully, tilting his head; the boy in the picture was smiling, grinning more like it, only the parents had somewhat serious looks on their faces… So much pain, he thought sadly, waiting for Marko.
Marko carried the tea tray into the living room and glanced at Nai and the picture,
“It’s sad…just 15… I would have liked to know him.” He sighed.
Nai nodded and put the picture away before turning to look at him,
“I would like to try and touch your cross now,” he asked.
“Hm… you sure it’s wise?” Marko asked hesitantly while reaching to take it from his pocket.
“My mind was… open then, need to shield it or I will pass out every time when by accident I touch it.” Nai close his eyes, focusing, making sure his mental shield was shut tight before reaching for the piece of jewellery. This time nothing happened, only cold shiver ran down his back, but it stopped when he got used to it. “I’m fine,” he smiled, looking at the cross now laying on his palm.
Marko watched him with curiosity, taking his teacup and holding it between his hands.
When finished Nai walked closer and wrapped the chain around Marko’s neck, “where it should be,” He whispered with a faint smile. Marko’s hand carefully reached to touch the cross, looking in Nai’s eyes,
“it’s okay now?”
“Yeah, it’s okay now,” Nai took the other cup and sat down on the couch, “had to get to know it, with my mind ready, that’s all.”
“Oh,” Marko said and sat down next to him, “So um, you want to talk? About your brother?”
“My brother, yes…. He was older than me, but we looked very much alike, almost like twins,” Nai looked down in his cup, “only he had darker eyes, like stormy sky…”
Marko lowered his hand gently on Nai’s thigh for comfort. “Why were they killed?” He asked carefully, “you don’t have to talk about it, if you don’t want to…”
Nai shook his head,
“No, not this time,” he looked at Marko and smiled carefully, “I’m happy now,”
“I’m glad you are,” Marko smiled back, “come, let’s go to eat, I’m sure that the pizza is warm.”
“My brother always cooked for us both, I only could do one thing, girlish thing.” Nai told him on their way to the kitchen.
“Girlish thing?” Marko asked cocking his eyebrow, not quite following.
“Yeah, cake… mom taught me, tiramisu cake… you don’t even bake it…guess for house safety. She was scared I would blow up or burn the place. I wasn’t talented, well, wasn’t then. When I ended up alone I learned everything or was taught by others.”
“Oh?” Marko glanced at him and took the pizza from the oven, “I love cakes, I love all sweet things, ones with lots of calories,” he chuckled.
“So you have a sweet tooth?” Nai grinned, “okay, I remember that,” he nodded then taking a seat down. “Gabriel always took care of me, because of how I was…thought I’m sick…”
Marko served the plate of pizza in front of him.
“He didn’t understand?” He asked, sitting down to eat.
Nai shrugged, picking up his fork, “not sure, maybe… You see, we were Christian, very Christian… and something like this was… when I was small my parents thought I was just cranky,” Nai giggled nervously, “Gabriel just wanted me to be like what he understood being normal, wanted to fix me… that’s why he wanted to be a doctor.”
“I’m sorry,” Marko said not knowing what else to tell him, “Go on, you can talk more, I’ll listen.” He smiled then.
"At least he never... tried to fix me when he get to know I don't like girls... while dad stopped talking with me since that day, but dad never talked with us really so nothing big really happened. I don't blame him, Gabriel" Nai took sip of his tea "Christianity sucks..."
“I guess… I stopped believing long time ago,” Marko sighed, “it’s difficult to believe when you’ve seen and heard so much bad things happening to innocent people.”
“Oh, I do believe,” Nai nodded, “but not in Christian way, nope.” He took a deep breath, “I miss Gabriel, because he stayed with me when there was a storm outside, he combed my hair even when I was 14 years old. He let me sleep in his bed when I had nightmares.”
“Hm… sounds nice… At least you always have the memories,” Marko gave him a careful smile.
“Memories… I wish I had a picture… I’m scared I forget his face one day,” Nai admitted glancing at Marko.
“I doubt you will,” Marko smiled gently, “His face might become hazy, or the sound of his voice, but you remember…” He reached to touch Nai’s face, “he looked like you, didn’t he?”
Nai smiled and nodded looking at him.
“How are you feeling?” He asked, thinking about what happened with that man.
Marko lowered his hand down, looked at him silent for some time,
“I’m okay… don’t worry…” Marko answered, “perhaps slightly tired,”
“Why don’t you go to bed and I’ll wash the dishes? Then I’ll join you, you made the tea.” Nai suggested smiling.
“Okay,” smiled back and got up, on his way he kissed Nai’s cheek, “I’m glad you’re here,” he whispered.
Nai smiled at Marko then looked at his hand when the boy left; it was healing… soon he would have to leave, soon he wouldn’t be there anymore. Watcher bit his lip slowly gathering the dishes to wash them trying not to let the sadness take over.
**^^**^^**^^**^^**
“Your language is funny,” Nai pointed out the following day, browsing through some book and just for fun tried to read which turned out to sound quite tragic.
“I know,” Marko giggled, “they say it’s one of the most difficult languages to learn,” he said walking closer to Nai, to see what book he had chosen.
“You like to repeat letters like here,” Nai pointed some line then tried to read, deliberately stressing and stretching some letters.
“You sound cute when you try to speak it,” Marko laughed softly, sitting down next to him, “you could teach me some of your language and I can do the same for you?”
Nai nodded, “Yeah, I can, but it’s not as interesting as yours is,” he looked through the book again, “amazing, all those dots…” his eyes were beaming.
Marko chuckled shaking his head,
“You’re like a little child with that book,” he took note.
“Why shouldn’t I be? I’m not that old!” Nai stuck his tongue at him from top edge of the book.
“I didn’t say you were!” Marko pointed out grinning, “so, what would you like to do today? Movie? Walk?”
Nai hid the lower half of his face behind the book, only his eyes peeking at the boy as he remained silent for some time.
“Hm…” he purred, blue eyes locked with Marko’s.
Marko gave him a curious look, his eyes drawn to his,
“Hm?… Mysterious huh?” He teased tilting his head.
“Mysterious? Nope, just…” Nai put the book away and slowly sat up, “curious,” he whispered touching the boy’s face.
The touch made Marko shiver in pleasant warm way,
“Curious?” He repeated, unconsciously nuzzling his cheek against Nai’s hand.
“Yes, curious… of how you taste…” Nai answered, leaning to lick the boy’s lower lip, “all of you…”
Marko let out a small, soft moan as he now brushed his lips against Nai’s tentatively, hand slowly reaching to touch his arm, shivering, unable to find words then.
Nai’s hand cupped the nape of Marko’s neck as he leaned even closer to steal his lips into not very innocent kiss, he really wanted to taste Marko, to devour him, all of him…
His body was still trembling all over, wanting the other so badly then, needing, the tension had been building up for days and the only thing he could hope for was that this time nothing would stop them, his tongue slowly entered Nai’s warm mouth, massaging against his, the kiss turning more hungrier by the minute.
From where he sat, Nai moved to straddle Marko’s lap, nearly pinning him to the couch, his kisses more passionate and needing with each passing moment, fingers reaching the boy’s clothes, undressing him quickly, he needed to see him and feel him, his heath.
“Oh god…” Marko moaned, feeling hot all over, his hands tucking at Nai’s clothes almost desperately, wanting to get rid of them as fast as possible.
Nai helped Marko to get rid of his own clothes, panting, eyes clouded with lust. Half nude, on the boy’s lap, it wasn’t the first time Marko saw him like that, but now it felt different, making him blush slightly. Licking his lips, Nai tugged at Marko’s shirt, dragging him down onto the floor with himself.
He rolled them over, topping the boy his hand going to his face, kissing him with trembling lips,
he looked into Marko’s eyes, feeling the boy still shiver beneath him.
“I want you…” Marko whispered, lifting his head to reach his lips once more.
“I know…” Nai nodded kissing his way down to Marko’s neck, leaving a wet path, “want you too…”
“Mmh…” Marko’s hand moved to Nai’s soft hair, his head moving back to expose his neck better to the man, purely enjoying the sensations going through him.
Nai groaned when seeing Marko’s gesture; the exposed neck; such vulnerable and wanton manner. Damp lips instantly moved to soft skin of his collarbone and nibbled slightly there. Marko licked his lips whimpering in pleasure and need, as his hands travelled down on his back untill resting on his butt, squeezing him through the material of his pants.
Nai gasped, his knee instantly slid between Marko’s thighs pushing them apart, “I need you…” he hissed before closing his lips around the boys nipple, sucking eagerly, skilled fingers working on getting rid of Marko’s pants.
“Need you too,” Marko panted and lifted his hips to help Nai to get rid of rest of his clothing, “yours too,” he whispered then, eager to see all of him.
“Then help me with that,” Nai grinned kissing Marko’s neck while sneaking his hand between his legs, teasing, but then taking back, sliding his hands under Marko’s back to bring them closer.
Marko’s trembling hands reached to open Nai’s pants where he already saw a promising bulge, he bit his lip when the hard organ jumped out from the tightness of the pants, “No underwear…kinky… I like it,” he breathed out, glancing at Nai’s face before back at his sex, his hand reaching to touch it with curiosity and want, very pleased by what he was seeing.
Nai looked down with wide grin, “no pants too tight. Underwear spoils the view of my sexy ass.”
Marko snickered at his answer, “you do have a sexy ass,” he had to agree having viewed it quite many times. He finally close his fingers around Nai’s rather impressive length, “sexy here too…” he couldn’t help but to add.
Nai moaned thrusting his pelvis into that ring of fingers around his cock, “mmmh… not the only sexy thing here Marco,” he purred, leaning down to lick down the boy’s chest to his navel, dipping his tongue there.
Marko instantly pulled his stomach in, giggling slightly, he felt ticklish but good at the same time, “Mmmh…” he moaned, teasing the slit of Nai’s organ.
Nai’s breathing accelerated, “Marko…. I want to come inside you…” he panted against his belly.
“Yes… I want you…” Marko breathed out, “please,” Though he had had many sex partners in his young life, this felt so much different, he truly wanted Nai and only Nai, needed him almost.
Nai nodded tracing his fingertips along the boy’s lips, “suck…” he whispered while looking into his eyes.
Slowly Marko parted his lips, gently yet eagerly sucking on his fingers locking his eyes with his; Nai had such a beautiful eyes, he thought to himself and when Nai withdrew his fingers Marko smiled at him, grinning back Nai brought them then to his own lips, tongue daring to lick, tasting his fingertip, “delicious,” he whispered; after all he had wanted to taste Marko.
Marko watched him keenly, his skin burning now with the need to feel him, feel Nai taking him,
“want you…” he whispered, his hands moving on his back, down softly on his spine, until reaching his butt and then back up again.
“I can tell…” Nai purred, lowering himself to settle between Marko’s thighs, “can see…” he added taking his erection in his other hand while sneaking his wet fingers in between those ivory cheeks.
Nai traced his tongue along the vain, while his finger nudged his entrance, slowly entering him, making sure not to cause him pain, and to further distract him, he close his lips around the head of Marko’s organ.
Nai was so gentle that it almost surprised him, gentle was not familiar to him and for awhile he almost forgot to breath.
“Feels good,” he whispered after awhile his back arching, eager for more.
Pleased to hear Marko’s whisper Nai slowly took more of his cock into his mouth, swallowing inch after inch in meanwhile adding a second finger, more and more eager to have Marko ready to take him.
There was only a hint of pain, the pleasure he felt was so strong it clouded everything else, he wanted more… It was so different, his ex seemed to have thought that undressing was enough to be considered as foreplay…
Nai backed off only to move his lips lower, this time tending to the boy’s scrotum, finger stretching him carefully before slowly adding the third digit, and as he did so Nai refilled his mouth with Marko’s sex, sucking him eagerly this time.
Marko bit his lips, feeling the fingers clearly stretching him and at the same time Nai’s lips around his member felt heavenly.
“More…” He whispered, slowly opening his eyes to look at Nai; he wanted him inside him, wanted to share the pleasure.
Nai slowly pulled his fingers out, peeking up at Marko, “er…I don’t want to hurt you… lube? Anything?” He asked chewing his lip; god, how could he have forgotten? On the other hand; yeah he could have… they were crazy with need, both of them.
“Um, olive oil?” Marko suggested, “in the kitchen,” he added with a whisper.
“Err… fine!” Nai had never moved that fast, he made it into the kitchen and back in a blink of an eye, “got it!” he grinned like a little kid in a candy store diving back between the boy’s thighs and to kiss Marko’s lips.
Marko giggled.
“good you were fast,” he whispered kissing him again.
Nai sneaked his hand under Marko’s knee and gave him the bottle, “open it…” he purred, “my hands are shaky…” He winded wanting to feel the boys hands on his arousal again, just for a moment.
Marko smiled, took the bottle and opened it with a small excited snicker looking into Nai’s eyes. Spreading some oil to his hand and lowering the bottle down onto the floor he started massaging Nai’s organ, making it slick.
Nai close his eyes moaning, “god Marco,” his flushed body moved against the younger man’s as he pushed his legs apart, needing him now.
Marko brought his arms around Nai, willingly parting his thighs more,
“Need you,” he whispered to his ear, nibbling his earlobe.
Slowly and carefully Nai started merging their bodies, uniting them as on. Blue eyes locked with Marco’s; his eyes were simply enchanting.
Marko breathed in softly, focusing on the feeling of Nai entering him, looking deep in his eyes and locking their hands; it felt right, felt… way it was suppose to, he smiled at the other, even pain didn’t matter, he felt so happy.
That smile encouraged Nai to stay buried inside Marko, still for some time, just savouring the feeling, “O-okay?”
“I’m okay…” Marko assured, almost intoxicated of the feeling of closeness.
Nai nuzzled the boy’s neck, “you’re beautiful…” he whispered ad his hips started to rock slowly against him, making sure he could adjust.
The pleasure overpowered the pain faster than ever before,
“Nai… feels… so good,” he breathed out wrapping his legs around him.
Nai gripped Marko’s both wrists with his one hand while sneaking his other under Marko’s knee, his momentum accelerating slightly, eyes still locked with the boys; couldn’t look away.
Marko submitted to him completely, enjoying every minute of their love making, feeling closer to Nai right then than ever with any other.
Releasing Marko’s hands, Nai leaned forwards and smashed his lips against his to silence those moans and pants that filled the air in the room. He almost forgot all those faces on those pictured around them, almost forgot that it was his grandmothers living room they were having sex in, only Marko mattered now.
Marko licked his lips, still looking at the other, the young man had such a beautiful face, he thought to himself and smiled at him, moaning softly as the pleasure kept growing.
That smile surely was the most beautiful part of Marko and Nai hoped he could see him smiling more often, “I love the way you smile…” Nai whispered touching Marko’s face before stealing damp swollen lips in passionate kiss.
And Marko was filled with such warm happiness right then, smiling into the kiss, hand travelling to Nai’s long soft hair, keeping him close, wanting the kiss to last little longer.
Nai moaned against Marko’s mouth when the boy’s hand reached to his hair; god how he loved when the boy stroked his hair… His passion grew stronger, hunger to devour, to mark Marko as his was reaching point where Nai could barely restrain himself.
Marko’s fingers curled in his hair, rocking his hips against every thrust Nai made; he could feel his peak getting closer, he felt like in heaven, wanting it to last but wasn’t sure how long he would be able to hold himself down.
Wet lips travelled to the boy’s neck nibbling softly at the soft flesh, searching for the best place…When sensing that Marko was approaching his release Nai wrapped his fingers around his arousal stroking him to match his now fervent pace.
Marko’s back arched, whimpering Nai’s name out as the pleasure became so strong that it made him reach his orgasm. He felt warm, he felt amazing, his body trembled heavily as his organ shot the warm thick fluid on both of their stomach and Nai’s hand.
Then, in the moment of bliss, the boy’s expression was amazing… Nai couldn’t hold back anymore either and just when he branded Marko with his seed, his teeth sunk in the boy’s shoulder, not enough to draw blood, but enough to leave the mark… Marko was his now…
Marko let out a surprised yelp when feeling the other bite him, his nails sinking in the skin of his back, maybe it just was one of Nai’s kinks? He wondered relaxing again, not really minding it.
Nai licked the mark, still connected with Marko, “sorry…just… got carried away…” He explained looking in his eyes, “or… I’m not sorry,” he grinned.
Marko snickered, looking back at him,
“I don’t mind… you felt amazing.” He whispered.
Moving slightly Nai pulled out making sure not to cause Marko any pain, “but next time we should do this in bed, properly,” he winked, still beaming.
“Bed, agreed,” Marko grinned snuggling close to him, “Let’s not get up just yet?” He asked then.
Nai nodded, resting his head on his shoulder, he felt good there with the boy, it was dangerous, this feeling and he couldn’t help but to feel slightly scared by it,
“No, we don’t have to, not yet…” He whispered, brought his head up slightly and kissed Marko cheek before resting his head back down.
